CONCEPT
ABSENT BELARUSSIAN ART
A united project by some independent formations and authors realized outside Belarus. Its aim is to have an ambivalent character.
1. Export of contemporary Belarussian art. Deactualization of the stereotypes concerning Belarussian culture and culture in general. Creating cognitive dissonance in the mind of people who see our country exclusively through the prism of its today's "image" that has been formed not by us.
2. As we see art as a process, the aim is absolutely equal to its realization.
The actions of ABA (OBI) are non-commercial and reflect our understanding of art as a means of self-expression, a means of trans-cultural and, which is still more important, interpersonal communication, and not a means of earning money or status.
The action by ABA (OBI) in St Petersburg will include an exhibition of painting by Andrey Bondarev, Alexander Rodin, Zmiter Vishnev and Alexey Fyodorov, who profess not only different stylistics but also different attitude towards painting as such, up to denying it, and of sculpture by Andrey Vorobyov.
