6 - 20.10.2007.

STIMUL festival was estabilished in 2005 in Prague, Czech republic, and it's well known as a significant music event with clearly specified dramaturgy. The festival is trying to introduce such music which is not normally available on Czech scene. The thematical focus is exclusively connected with the Cultural review A2. It reflects the sounds of progressive electronic music, noise, contemporary jazz and a variety of improvised music including all combinations and multi-genre approaches.

STIMUL is trying to introduce both established names and the most recent trends of alternative music (from previous years: Peter Broetzmann, Alex von Schlippenbach, Christian Fennesz, Philip Jeck, Pan sonic or Supersilent) and also on musicians who are less established but have great potential (musicians from Finnish label Fonal, Robotobibok, DJ Illvibe, Loskot or Paul Wirkus). Most of the concerts are exclusive Czech premieres of the artists!

STIMUL festival also tries to introduce the music scenes in other Central European countries. Czech listeners are, sadly, less informed about these scenes than about English and American production.

In 2007 STIMUL had one succesful gig in the spring. Three main projects from label Fonal: Es, Islaja and Kemialliset Ystävät.

But main part of STIMUL will be held in Autumn 2007. There will be four different STIMUL concerts, all of them in a great, new venue: Archa Theatre in Prague.

First of all, on 6th October 2007 we'll hear a special weird DJ-set from Italian one-man project Okapi, Bassisters Orchestra from Poland will introduce their mixture of jazz, electronics and hip-hop and two masters of imaginary cinematic landscapes, Swedish experimentator Hans Appelqvist and famous post-rock trio Kreidler from Düsseldorf, Germany. Kreidler will also present a recent documentary movie called Durchfahrtsland (for which they composed the music) at the DER FILM festival in Prague.

On Saturday 13th October 2007, Austrian electro-acoustic, space-rock/folk trio Trapist and Italian psychedelic minimal duo of two brothers My Cat Is An Alien will support one of the shining long-time stars of noise and free-improvisation, Keiji Haino from Japan.

On 20th October 2007 we will present, for the first time in Prague, hardcore-jazz duo MoHa! (Rune Grammofon), experimental supergroup Regenorchester XII (Fennesz, Franz Hautzinger, Tony Buck, Luc Ex) and famous US avant-hiphop group Dälek.

And finally on Sunday 21st October 2007, in cooperation with MOFFOM festival (Music On Film - Film On Music), we have the pleasure to present two exceptional guitarists and improvisors: English avantgardist Fred Frith and Noël Akchoté from France. Noël will also introduce (for its live premiere) an exclusive "Kylie Minogue" set from his last record "So Lucky"!
