London, 26 June - 7 September 2008 The American artist (b.1949), best known for his works from images appropriated from magazines and pulp fiction, shows an installation created from his own large collection of art, furniture, memorabilia and books. Paintings, photographs and sculptures by Prince from the past 30 years are exhibited alongside the collection to create an intimate domestic setting. Prince is known for pioneering series such as “White Paintings”, 1990s, “Check Paintings”, 2004, and “Nurses”, 2002, as well as the “Car Hood” sculptures. The show, his first in a major public UK institution, is in collaboration with Louis Vuitton, and curated by Richard Prince with the Serpentine Gallery, and follows his recent “Spiritual America” show the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York. _________________ Serpentine Gallery Kensington Gardens London W2 3XA T 020 7402 6075 F 020 7402 4103 Recorded information 020 7298 1515 information@serpentinegallery.org www.serpentinegallery.org |
