Pearls of Russian Music

Riga, 21.02.2008. A concert is scheduled for February 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Old Town Riga's Great Guild Concert Hall as part of the series "Pearls of Russian Music". The soloist will be cellist Marta Sudraba, but conducting the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra - its former chief conductor Gintaras Rinkevicius. The bill features Sergei Prokoviev's Concert Symphony for Cello and Orchestra and Sergei Rachmaninov's Symphony No.2. Marta Sudraba is KREMERata BALTICA's first cellist and a superb soloist. She is a graduate of Professor Eleonora Testeleca's class at the Latvian Academy of Music and has gained additional education at Londona Guildhall School of Music and Drama in Professor Stefan Popov's class. She has a Master's degree from the Basel Academy of Music. Sudraba is with KREMERata BALTICA since it was established, and has performed as a soloist with many leading orchestras, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
