2007.06.05 - 2007.08.15 Galeria Miejska bwa, Bydgoszcz From the collection of Kunsthalle, Mannheim Wit, eroticism, brutality, beauty, acute observation of nature, unfettered imagination, natural brilliance, simplicity of technical solutions and constant taking of new artistic ideas, looking at art beyond schemas and existing styles. The work of Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), one of the most versatile artists of the 20th century, fascinates both with its stylistic uniqueness, as well as diversity of employed techniques. Picasso´s graphics, though less known aspect of his art, are closely tied to his whole output. One can found in them motives appearing in his painting, drawings, sculpture or ceramics. Picasso never considered graphics as a supplement to his art. Quite contrary – for him, it was an independent field for technical and artistic experiments, delighting with virtuosity and cleanness of drawing, with subtle play of light and shadow, and with diversity of ideas. With the same passion, technical skill and easiness he used etching, aquatint, lithograph, linocut, soft varnish or pointe sèche. 38 graphics from the collection of Kunsthalle in Mannheim, created in various periods of artist´s life from 1905 to 1968, give a good insight into the whole artistic output of Picasso. They make it easier to trace the creative endeavours and experiments undertaken by him. It is a display of unrestricted imagination and artistic intuition, which blazed new trails for the art of the 20th century. __________________________ Galeria Miejska bwa ul.Gdańska 20 85-006 Bydgoszcz Poland TEL : 052/339 30 50 bwa@galeriabwa.bydgoszcz.pl www.galeriabwa.bydgoszcz.pl |
