From 15 to 22 October 2005 Prix Europa invites the best European television-, radio- and Internet productions as well as their makers and managers to Berlin for a week of festival and competition.

The competition's main concern is to promote the trademark "Made in Europe" and to reflect the complete spectrum of European productions, to show cross-border programme developments and to be a forum for quality programmes. It has become the most important festival of its kind since the founding of Prix Europa in 1987 by the European Cultural Foundation and the Council of Europe.

During the competition week the Prix Europa organises a series of special events with its partners. Workshops, Screenings, Conferences, Think-tanks, Pitching Sessions highlight media trends and offer all participants the extra opportunity for information and exchange.

Also during the year, the Prix Europa actively supports the international dialogue and co-organise different events. These have included a series of New Media workshops, a European Radio Conference, or the Radio Day of European Cultures and Mini-Prix's. The first Mini-Prix was held in Amsterdam in 2003 by the European Cultural Foundation and the Nederlandse Programma Stichting - NPS. In 2004 Latvian Radio hosted the second Mini-Prix.

---Nominations for Prix Europa 2005
272 television-, radio and Internet productions from 35 countries have been nominated to compete for fourteen awards in ten categories. All in all, more than 650 productions were entered.

“A subject that features highly in this year’s selection is Islam“, remarks festival manager Susanne Hoffmann. “The programmes focus, however, on personal encounters with Muslims and their everyday lives rather than offering political analysis.“
