Cosa Gallery is presenting a new collection of outstanding glass vessels by Australian artist Noel Hart.

Noel will be present at a special preview on June 28 and over the weekend of July 1 & 2 to talk about his work and the inspiration he gets from his extraordinary surroundings at his home in the subtropical rainforest of northern New South Wales.

Noel Hart is an Australian artist who explores his relationship with nature through his work. Many years living and working in an area of high biodiversity following an upbringing and education in an industrial city have led to diverse considerations regarding creativity and art.

The years following art school included periods of work as an art therapist, a photographer and a screen printer whilst continuing to study fine art and produce and exhibit work.

In the 1980’s he relocated to the subtropical rainforest of the far north coast of New South Wales with his family. Following periods working in local community art and as a curator in a nearby university art gallery, Noel began working as a designer in a hot glass studio. While his days concerned experimenting with hot glass and establishing the studio’s international reputation, his nights were taken up with exploring personal ideas about his position in nature.

The influence of Australia itself can be seen in his artwork – the power of the landscape, an awareness of an ancient culture and its art and the possibilities of individual freedom of expression in a world with an increasingly homogenised society and culture.
