International Film and Music Festival Küstendorf will take place from January 13-19, 2010 in Drvengrad, Mokra Gora, Serbia. Festival is founded by the famous film director, Emir Kusturica, and is under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia.

The third International Küstendorf Film and Music Festival is dedicated to the future filmmakers and great contemporary film authors.

Over 300 films made by young filmmakers and film schools’ students worldwide have been submitted for participation in the COMPETITION PROGRAMME of the Festival. The final selection includes 28 films from 18 countries: Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cuba, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Israel, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Switzerland, UK, and USA. The diversity of themes and genres, and the high quality of the submitted films, assure that the competition for the Golden, Silver and Bronze Egg Awards will be exciting and tense. The best authors will be awarded by the International Jury: Marjane Satrapi (a well-known comic book author and director and President of the Jury), Sara Driver (film producer and film author) and Jonathan Weisgal (famous Hollywood producer).

Programme RETROSPECTIVE OF GREATNESS is dedicated to Johnny Depp, one of the most famous actors of our times. A guest of the Festival, Johnny Depp will give several workshops. This program will present three of his most remarkable movies: Edward Scissorhands (1990), Arizona Dream (1993) and Donnie Brasco (1997).

CONTEMPORARY TRENDS presents some of last year’s best releases. Following the screenings, the authors - guests of the Festival - will give workshops daily. The programme includes: About Elly by Asghar Farhadi who won the Award for Best Director (Silver Bear) at the 2009 Berlin International Film Festival; Soul Kitchen by Fatih Akin, the winner of the Special Jury Prize at the 2009 Venice International Film Festival; The Time That Remains by Elia Suleiman; Farewellby Christian Carion; Tsarby Pavel Lungin; Buried Secrets by Raja Amari and Jim Jarmusch’s latest film The Limits of Control.

The EVERGREEN programme will remind us of some of the most important films from the past, such as the animated film Persepolis, which marked the debut of Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud, who won the Jury Prize at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival; and Czechoslovakian masterpiece If a Thousand Clarinets from 1965, directed by Ján Roháč andVladimír Svitáček.

SIDE PROGRAMME - presents the best selection of films from the prestigious American Robert Flaherty Film Seminar. Under the heading Witnesses, Monuments, Ruins, explored the act of bearing witness - bringing memory, experience, and history into the present - through an eclectic range of topics and formal approaches. In the second part of the programme, UnionDocs (a nonprofit documentary arts space from New York) will present Profit Motive and the Whispering Wind(2007). Author John Gianvito chronicles America's progressive political tradition in completely original fashion. National Association of Film Critics USA awarded it the best experimental film of 2007.

MUSIC PROGRAMME – Every night, after the screenings and workshops, various music stars will perform on stage, such as Global.Kryner (Austria), Festicultores Troupe (France/Spain), Rubl (Russia), Tonino Carotone (Spain/Italy), Aynur (Turkey), Vladimir Maricic Kvartet & Artcore Strings (Serbia), Vrelo (Serbia), and Emir Kusturica and The No Smoking Orchestra(Serbia).

Aside from filmmakers and actors, the Festival will host film school students and young filmmakers all over the world, as well as other prominent guests from the film industry.
