Till 2.09.2007, Lisboa The Irwin group was founded in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1983 and comprises Dušan Mandic, Miran Mohar, Andrej Savski, Roman Uranjek and Borut Vogelnik. Since 1984 it has been part of the NSK (Neue Slowenische Kunst) movement, which also includes the music group Laibach. Irwin has been working with a range of media. Its working process is governed by the “retro principle”, taking artistic and political motifs and symbols and critiquing their historical meaning and contents, with a particular focus on the history of Eastern European art. Five key pieces provide an overview of Irwin’s work from different periods. Additional documents also shed light on the group and its historical context. ______________________________________ Culturgest - Gestão de Espaços Culturais, SA.
