26 November – 23 December 2009 Future Map is London’s premiere annual exhibition of the best emerging talent from the current graduating year at London’s creative powerhouse, University of the Arts London. This year, Future Map will be hosted by 20 Hoxton Square Projects, a collaborative project space dedicated to showcasing emerging contemporary artists. This academic year alone 9152 students graduated from the University of the Arts London’s six Colleges. Now in its twelfth year, Future Map has steadily built a reputation amongst industry insiders for showcasing a comprehensive overview of the next generation of artists and designers who will define our visual landscape. Future Map can be an important first career break for a young contemporary artist or designer, providing an introduction to top UK and international gallerists, curators, collectors and critics. The Future Map ‘09 Panel An expert panel of leading industry insiders will select Future Map 09 exhibitors from across this year’s graduate and postgraduate shows. The works displayed will include a variety of disciplines, ranging from fine art to design, fashion and communications. The panel for 2009 includes: Frieze founder Matthew Slotover, Caroline Daniel Assistant Editor of the Financial Times, internationally renown collector, Fatima Maleki and Alasdhair Willis of Established & Sons, who will lend his expertise in design to the proceedings. “Being part of Future Map is a rare chance to see what ideas are driving this generation of new artists; what questions they are asking. The range of work showcased by Future Map offers different answers to the question of what is important, now.†Caroline Daniel “Future Map highlights some of the best young artists emerging from Arts London, and by extension therefore, some of the best young artists in Britain.
