3.11-15.12.2009. After having graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Ljubljana towards the end of 1960’s, Dušan Tršar (b. 1937) launched an independent career. As member of a group of neo-constructivists, within the next decade he commanded attention with diversified light objects. These combined a traditional sculpting approach with a propensity for the effects of contemporary materials that enable transparency, radiation and illumination. Tršar then began to mould the characteristic forms that had emerged from these phenomena into more solid materials, predominantly bronze, a substance that has remained both a challenge and an inspiration. Indubitably an artist who is always keen to follow the latest trends in fine art, Tršar has from the very beginning aspired towards contemporary fine-art, as well as technical experiments. Tackling this illustrious Slovenian sculptor’s most momentous phases and facets, the CD Gallery exhibition is a broad, comprehensive overview of his oeuvre. The exhibition has been curated and the accompanying essay authored by Dr. Jure Mikuž. ________________________ Cankarjev dom Culture and Congress Centre Prešernova cesta 10 1000 Ljubljana Slovenia Europe T +386 (0)1 24 17 100 www.cd-cc.si |
