In October for the first time in Latvia will take place the Design days. During three weeks will be held the exhibitions, the seminars and different events in the enterprises of design creation and distribution. The Design days "Design. Future" is organized by Design Information Center (DIC).


The biggest intrigue of the Design days will the opening of the factory VEF, where the exhibition of furniture by Edvīns Pastors will be held. The hit of the evening will be the retrospection of Gunārs Glūdiņš, the professor of the Functional design department of Academy of Art. The exhibition will consist of projects, sketches, photos and functional design objects. The exhibits from the funds of the factory VEF will enrich the exhibition.

In VEF will be open also the exhibition of design schools "5.p.m." The pedagogues will be offered to sharpen up the qualification in the seminar on design actualities.

During the Design days many design enterprises will organize the open- door day. Different activities will take place in the salons Inspira, Xcelsior, Grīvas mēbeles, Kates mēbeles and other. In the culture programme of Design days will include lectures, theatre performances, reunion of the architects and designers form Baltic States and St. Petersburg. The distributors of classical design objects will install the street of design inside of territory of VEF. The street will reflect the history of famous design objects and their authors. In the meantime of this exhibition a separated stand will be dedicated to the concept of future outline of Daugava left bank. All the events of Design days will be included in a special guide.

Next year the Design Information Center plans to organize the international biennial of young designers. The project is supported by Culture Capital Foundation and is included in the list of nationally important culture projects.
