The first Danube Music Festival will take place in two parts between March 31and April 10, 2007.

The music to be played at the festival is a reflection of modern trends in the development of music in countries along the Danube – it will vary between classical music and ethno jazz improvisations. And all this music will be performed by virtuoso musicians who have always moved against the currents in their artistic endeavours.
The starting point of the cruise is the Bulgarian town of Vidin. On its way to the final destination, namely the German town of Passau, the ship sails through Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and Germany. In the course of this unique event the ship will have its musical stops at major city ports on the Danube. Musicians whose art is emblematic of the musical tradition of the respective geographical region will be joining us at each stop.
What is unique about the festival is not just the contents of its program, but also its form, which is based on dialogue.
Each major concert will transform into a jam session with all musicians on board participating.
The time of the event carries symbolic significance – all of us on board the ship will celebrate the Feast of St Lazarus, Palm Sunday and Easter performing traditional rites and music.
This cultural event is for art connoisseurs only! Musicians are afforded the opportunity to work together for several days and come up with unique and innovative musical suggestions to be performed before the audience of passengers.
Musical performances will not be the only thing to enjoy during the cruise – passengers will be afforded the opportunity to visit cultural heritage sites in the most attractive cities and towns on the Danube, as well as to savour the dishes offered by the ship’s chef five times a day.
The ship will also be the set for a documentary about the event and the audience will contribute to the atmosphere created by the film. Therefore everyone willing to join the cruise shall be informed about the documentary and give their consent to participate in it.
There will be journalists from leading European media on board of the ship who will be covering the event “in motion” live from the venue of the event.
So you should take our advice – closely consider the musical program, as our festival is going to take place on board of a ship sailing along the Danube and it will be harder than usual to leave before the concert is over.
