19 August 2006 – 14 January 2007, Koldinghus Museum, Kolding Because of centuries-old traditions of craftsmanship at a high level, and of great artistic creativity, modern Czech glass has become the best in the world. In Bohemia, the present day Czech Republic, there are centuries-old traditions for the production of glass of the highest quality. Precious Bohemian crystal adorns tables all over the world, thanks to specialised craftsmen with great technical competence. Modern glass consists of design in the broadest sense and unique art works that arouse great interest. After the 2nd World War Czech craftsmen and artists managed to write a new international agenda for glass design and art. In this exhibition some 350 selected major works by the best artists will be shown. Koldinghus was built in the middle of the 13th century, and in the centuries that followed it was one of Denmark's most important royal castles. In 1808 there was a fire that left the castle in ruins – a romantic relic. Today the castle has been restored and houses a museum which is a centre for cultural activities and special exhibitions of international standing. ____________________ Museet på Koldinghus Markdannersgade 11 Postboks 91 DK-6000 Kolding Denmark Phone +45 76 33 81 00 Fax + 45 76 33 81 99 museum@koldinghus.dk Web www.koldinghus.dk |
