The chamber opera “Rita†by Gaetano Donizetti directed by Trajko Jovanovski will have its premiere on the Small Stage of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet at 9.00 p.m. tomorrow. The opera is being performed for the first time in Macedonia. Aleksandra Lazarovska is performing the lead role, and the cast also includes Dejan Tosev, Neven Siljanovski and Andrej Naunov. The 19-member orchestra will play under the baton of Tomislav Sopov. “We want to activate the Small Stage for opera performances as well,†Artistic Director of the Opera Vaso Ristov says. “A chamber play is being set after more than 15 years. The opera is a hit performance for two reasons: young solo performers and the audience who will enjoy Donizetti’s magnificent music. The soloists have a difficult task not only to sing but to say a text, and their moves are also choreographed. I have had special pleasure to work with these young people who live for the opera. Listening to “Rita†young people will start to love opera.†For young director Trajko Jordanovski, “Rita†is his first independent work. He graduated opera directing in Bulgaria in class of director Plamen Kartalov, who have set a few performances in the Macedonian Opera and Ballet. Jordanovski assisted him when he directed “Lydia of Macedonia.†|
