Lithoijen Galerie Sous-Terre en Beeldenpark, Lithoijen Batterijstraat 23a 5396 NT Lithoijen NB (bij Oss) T: +316 412-482159 F: +316 412-482530 info@galerie-sous-terre.nl Charlot Cassar is currently exhibiting his latest collection of ceramic work at Galerie Sous-Terre in the Netherlands. The exhibition marks an important milestone in Cassar’s artistic development in what is his first major breakthrough on the international art scene. With over 1000m2 of gallery space, Galerie Sous-Terre is one of the biggest and most prominent art galleries in the Netherlands, representing some 150 artists from around the world. In this collection, Cassar continues to develop a style that is becoming uniquely his. There is no radical break from his previous works, however, one can perceive a journey that continues to explore new possibilities. Each work of art is an artistic statement that combines a deep-rooted fascination with landscape and rock formations and a strong personal expression. The slabs of high-fired clay that make up the works of art create a series of meandering lines and interlocking shapes forming balanced compositions heightened by the vitrified glaze colours. Greens, blues and browns dominate throughout, as does a sense of deep calm that permeates the collection. Also prominent in this collection are a series of dyptichs and some larger, bolder compositions. The exhibition is supported by Middle Sea Valletta Life and Airmalta.
