Martin Saar will have his first one-man show “over the Atlantic†in his native Estonia at the Viviann Napp Gallery in Tallinn from April 29th until May 29th 2006. Saar has been living in New York for the last 3 years, and has received considerable attention for his graphic design and art work. His paintings where included in a 2005 group show at the Charles Cowles Gallery in Manhattan, and he has also had a one man show at The Beach Ambiance Gallery in Sag Harbor, New York. Many prominent American collectors have commissioned Saar’s digital-mosaic portraits, which have been featured in Vogue and Absolute magazines. Last year, A&F Magazine called Saar a rising star artistâ€. In March he was one of 10 artists included in a New Museum benefit at Bergdorf Goodman. Both The New York Times and the fashion newspaper WWD singled out Saar’s celebrity portraits in their coverage of the event. His watercolors are currently on view at Estonian House in New York, along with the work of Mark Kostabi and other Estonian-American artists. “For my first exhibition in my own country,†Saar says, “I want to show the different kinds of work I have been doing in New York over the last few years— airbrush, polymer paint, silkscreen and watercolors. Life is stressful enough, so I try to keep my work simple and pure.†______________________________ Gallery Viviann Napp Narva mnt. 15, Tallinn, Estonia tel:10120 +372-662-3152 / +372-662-3485 e-mail: info@vnapp.com web: www.vnapp.com |
