Bratislava, 27. June 2008 - 5. October 2008 As the SNG commemorates the 60th anniversary of its existence this year, its plan of exhibitions has been enriched by several unique and interesting projects, taking place in all of its venues (SNG in Bratislava, Strážky Chateau, Zvolen Castle, the Gallery of Ľ. Fulla in Ružomberok, and the Gallery of Naïve Art in Pezinok). Key events of the year will be represented by two exhibitions, as well as publishing projects 111 from the Collctions and 60 yars Open. The first shall present, in the form of an impressive presentation, exactly 111 “top†artworks from our collections of old, naive, applied, modern, and contemporary art and architecture. The second project will deal with the history, mission, and collections of the SNG. It will introduce chronologically the most important documents, significant acquisitions, individual workplaces, and personalities connected with the institution. Besides the historical and visual materials, there will be art objects which visitors usually do not see at exhibitions: e.g., chairs made for gallery spaces, a repository stand with all the casts of Messerschmidt’s sculptures owned by the Gallery, and the prizes and distinctions awarded to the Gallery since 1948. The aim is not to narrate the complete story of the Gallery, but rather an effort to tell the story in an attractive way with all its peculiar aspects. ______________________ Slovak National Gallery Esterhazy Palace, Námestie Ľ.
